CAREN BARTH
Caren brings her experience as a writer, educator, and writing coach to the arena of nonprofit grant writing. Her background in higher education has honed her ability to efficiently grasp the message that needs to be expressed and to express it with clarity and awareness of the intended audience. As a grant writer, she focuses on alignment of values between the funder and client to successfully complete government, corporate, and foundation proposals. Her focus is on grant writing, project management, logic modeling, and budget narratives. She has been a key fundraiser for Miss Julie’s School of Beauty.

She is passionate about overcoming barriers to sustainable success, especially regarding disability rights and equitable access, restoring hope for survivors of sex trafficking, providing material support to pregnant and parenting individuals in need, and addressing barriers to success for girls and women. Among her rewarding volunteer experiences, she is especially proud of fostering pets through Furever Friends. She and her children have helped over a dozen pets find loving homes and somehow managed to resist adopting most of them.
Her previous writing experience included instructing and coaching at the University of Rochester School of Nursing, Monroe Community College, Writers and Books, and in the Rochester homeschool community. She has helped hundreds of writers achieve their goals.

Caren earned her BA in English literature (with minors in creative writing and American Sign Language) from the University of Rochester and her MFA in creative writing from George Mason University (Fairfax, VA). She’s a proud alumna of Nazareth Academy.

Caren lives in East Rochester with her two brilliant children, three handsome cats, and several fish and shrimp. Her favorite places to be are in her kayak, in her kitchen, or immersed in a good story.
